Using "Actions" in Photoshop

tpsact 1. Photoshop's actions function is very useful in saving you a lot time. What it does is to record a set of actions that you preform, and then stores them so you can preform the exact same actions at a later date. This is very useful for resizing images, making thumbnails... and the list goes on. In this tutorial, I will be using an example where we are recording an action to make thumbnails for an image gallery. First, open an image up.
tpsact 2. Go to your actions palette. If it's not there, select Window>>Actions and the palette will appear. On the bottom of the actions palette, click the newaction new action button. In the box that pops up, type in the name you want your action to be stored under, click "record" when you are ready. The recording has started. Commence preforming the actions you desire to record.
tpsact 3. Click the stop button when you are done. At anytime when you are recording and you make a mistake, you may click the stop button, drag the mistake you made in the actions palette into the garbage button, click record and continue. You can also make different folders to hold all your different actions, by clicking the little folder button on the actions palette.
tpsact 3. To use this action on another image, open the desired image, select the action from the action palette and press the play button. Watch Photoshop do all your work for you! =] You can also do multiple images at a time, by going file » automate » batch
